First week up 12%Well, I just completed my first week of forward demo testing with the Euro-Blaster EA. I must say I am quite impressed thus far with this expert advisor. The current demo is at FXDD using the “aggressive” preset that comes with the Euro-Blaster package. This preset has the risk set to 10% and the stoploss set to 500 pips. The take profit is at 20 pips, but I have changed this to 25 pips. This week the account balance went from $3,000 to $3,366.94, an increase of $366.94, or 12.2%. That’s a very encouraging beginning.

Will I run my live account with the aggressive preset? I am still undecided about that. I will only be putting around $500 in the live account, at least to begin with. My initial inclination is to also run it with the more risky settings and slowly pare back the risk as the account grows larger. After all, what’s a measly $500 loss when you’ve already thrown much more down the drain? The plan is to get that $500 to initially grow as quickly as possible and then protect the capital a bit more once it becomes a more meaningful amount. We’ll see…

If you get a chance, take a look at this week’s results here: FXDD demo account. You’ll notice it opened five positions on two occasions. The first time, one of the positions hit TP before the other four went into a fairly significant drawdown (around 100 pips). The second time all five positions went into a period of drawdown for 90 to 100 pips before all hitting take profit eventually. The longest trades were about 24 hours long, and the shortest about 20 minutes. I did shut my EA down about 1 PM ET today so that it would not open any trades heading into the weekend — no need to tempt fate!

I am looking forward to next week to see if we get a repeat performance!
